For over 25 years, Paul has been a driving force behind ESG and organic-focussed businesses. His journey began in leadership roles at independent organic food retailers like Community Natural Foods (Calgary) and The Kootenay Coop (Nelson, BC). But Paul’s vision extends beyond grocery store shelves. Alongside his partner Clare, he executed a turnaround for Cedar Creek Cafe, a haven for farm-to-table cuisine featuring ingredients grown in the Slocan Valley. Paul’s passion for sustainability extends beyond the plate. For the past six years, he’s empowered countless startups, including many farms, through his role as Operations and Self-Employment Manager at Community Futures Central Kootenay. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Paul offers a wealth of experience with startup budgets, cash flow forecasting and managerial finance, and knows the key to any viable business is understanding the numbers. When he’s not cultivating the future of sustainable business, you’ll find Paul tending his urban garden, meticulously restoring vintage bicycles, or cycling the trails and backroads in the unceded Sinixt territory he calls home.
