Lisa Willott
Lisa grew up a city kid in the heart of Calgary but developed a love for agriculture through being a founding member of the UofC campus community garden when pursuing her BSc in Environmental Sciences. This led her to work in small-scale farming in Arizona, Washington, Oregon, and eventually to Cuba where she pursued research for her master’s degree (Geography) that focused on the social support for small-scale Cuban farmers. Completing this degree through the University of Victoria brought her to the island where she’s loved living ever since. Her love for seed saving was nurtured through her work growing seeds with Saanich Organics for six years. With teacher education also under her belt, Lisa’s excited to introduce and encourage young and emerging farmers to the joys of agriculture and seed saving. When not on the farm, Lisa might be in the kitchen, singing with her choir, or out for a hike in some of the beautiful coastal terrains of Vancouver Island.
