Having grown up on a hobby farm in Delta, BC, Emily’s passion for agriculture began at a young age. Early on, Emily knew she wanted to pursue a career in community development focusing on sustainable food systems. She spent years getting her hands dirty on numerous vegetable and berry farms in and around Metro Vancouver and, working in Vancouver and Langley in the non-profit sector for environmental organizations. She has a BA from Simon Fraser University in Sustainable Community Development paired with Anthropology, with a great portion of her degree focused on food and agricultural specific research.

In her spare time, Emily loves to work in the garden and experiment with starting new seeds. As well, you can always find her at farmer’s markets socializing with other farmers and enjoying local produce. Emily loves canning and other methods of food preservation and spends a lot of her time preserving local, seasonal vegetables.
