Anita Georgy thinks of herself as a farm folk who just happens to live in the city. Raised on a market garden farm in southern Ontario, she has been in Vancouver since 2002 and loves to grow and eat local, healthy foods. She has a BA in Environmental Geography, and a B.Ed in Environmental Education and believes wholeheartedly that food is the most powerful way to connect people with some of the biggest issues of our time. After over a decade of experience in the non-profit sector, including the Vancouver Farmers Markets and Richmond Food Security Society, she joined our team in 2018 and is thrilled to lead BC’s oldest sustainable food organization through its next years of effective food programs.
In her spare time, she is likely getting her hands dirty in a garden, watching birds, or exploring BC’s wild places.
