Our Strengthening Community Supported Agriculture program elevates and drives the expansion of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs across the province.
Our Strengthening Community Supported Agriculture program elevates and drives the expansion of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs across the province.
We currently provide BC’s largest list of provincial CSA’s. Our coordinated set of educational opportunities target farmers and eaters with the purpose of supporting local, sustainable food systems. Activities include a series of webinars that connect farmers around several topics in CSA’s; an online network that connects farmers and provides ongoing space for CSA mentorship; and our interactive web resource for CSA programs across the province.
Community Supported Agriculture is a program where customers purchase ‘shares’ in seasonal harvests from their local farmers. This mutual commitment guarantees consumers repeated deliveries of fresh, local food, and provides farmers with a source of income during a period of high expense. Farmers increase their financial and environmental resiliency by incorporating the CSA model into their business.
Interactive CSA MapIn 2020, we delivered a survey to BC farmers discussing the impacts of COVID-19. In partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) Institute for Sustainable Food Systems, we found this global pandemic highlights risks of participating in the international food economy and that short, local supply chains are more resilient. Our Strengthening CSA program will create sustainable sales channels and improve food security. By improving local food systems, we can minimize risks associated with a dependence on the global food system, improve diets, and support regional economies.

Join our online group, CSA Farmers of British Columbia. This group is a platform for BC farmers who currently use CSA’s as a part of their business model or are interested in starting a CSA program for their farm. Join other CSA farmers in conversation, resource sharing, and networking.
