Fibre Flax seed – Linore is a winter-hardy variety traditionally grown in the Pacific Northwest. This fibre flax seed is grown on Vancouver Island and has lineage with Agatha, a traditional textile flax from the Netherlands. FibreSheds encourage the Flax-to-Linen revival; you can now quickly grow your own fibre. Sow directly onto a firm planting bed in early spring or fall and press to make good contact with moistened soil. Keep young plants from drying out. Grow in well-drained soil with a pH of 5 – 7. The densely sown seed will produce 32” tall, fibrous stems—harvest between 90 and 100 days. Flax is frost and mild winter tolerance once established. Flax is also an excellent cover crop, can be cut for fresh or dried arrangements and is remarkably strong when used in textile projects.
