Learning at Lohbrunner Community Farm: The Little Buddy Farm Project

At FarmFolk CityFolk, we are long-time supporters of the Lohbrunner Community Farm Cooperative in Langford, BC. In 2016, we responded to an opportunity to help ensure the land could continue to be farmed. Today, FarmFolk CityFolk holds title to the land and has a long-term lease with the Co-op.

We are proud to support a community of growers who produce food while creating opportunities for education, learning, and connection on the farm.

This month, we are highlighting one of those programs: The Little Buddy Farm Project

Throughout the past school year, Lohbrunner offered educational opportunities for students from nearby schools: Belmont Secondary, Centre Mountain Lellum Middle and Happy Valley Elementary. The Little Buddy Farm Project brought older and younger students together at the farm through a buddy and mentorship program.

The project was captured in the video below, created by a senior student at Belmont Secondary as part of their Film and TV class. The video combines photos and footage from teachers and shows students of all ages learning about where food comes from and getting their hands in the soil.
