2025 BC Seed Gathering Recap

Our biennial BC Seed Gathering took place at the end of last month in Harrison Hot Springs, and we are still feeling the energy from two full days of learning, storytelling, and connection. Over 100 people joined us across the farm tour, Harvest Dinner, and Friday sessions, representing many different parts of BC’s farming and gardening community.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors and funders, we were able to subsidize attendance for 20 people at the Harvest Dinner and 10 people for the full day on Friday. We also raised just over $413 through our silent auction, which will help us continue this work.

The Gathering began on November 27 with a tour of Cedar Isle Farm, where participants had the opportunity to learn about wheat breeding, on-farm seed production, and observe our mobile seed cleaning trailer in action, co-hosted by Organic BC.

On Friday, we hosted sessions on topics ranging from decolonizing seeds and propagation to growing perennial vegetables for seed. During the Harvest Dinner at Harrison Corner Café, Dr. T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss, Dr. Chelsey Armstrong, and Stephanie Leon Riedl shared stories that grounded the evening in history, care, and community.

Our engagement stations offered opportunities to learn more about the work of CBAN and the BC Eco Seed Co-op, and our Seed Swap Table stayed busy as people exchanged seeds, stories, and ideas throughout the day.
