February 11th – New Westminster Seedy Saturday
This Seedy Saturday launched the official opening of the New Westminster Seed Library located at New Westminster Public Library. There were three presentations throughout the day including a talk on container gardening by Carole Forsythe, beekeeping and pollinators by Matt Young, and a seed-saving workshop from our Metro Vancouver coordinator Siri van Gruen. The seed table was buzzing all day, kids got the opportunity to plant bean seeds, and many folks got their gardening questions answered at a Q&A.
February 25th – Salt Spring Island Seedy Saturday
A packed house with a diversity of seed growers, gardening workshops, and a very well-run and engaging seed swap table. We stuck around for an extra day to deliver a workshop to farmers about variety trials, increasing seed production, and farmer-led breeding projects.
