Raised in rural BC, Cheryl comes from a multi-generational farming family with deep roots in sustainable food systems and agricultural stewardship. An avid gardener and nature enthusiast, Cheryl is passionate about supporting farmers and collaborating with others to create food systems in BC that are strong, sustainable, diverse, inclusive and resilient for present and future generations.
With over 20 years’ of executive leadership experience with multi-stakeholder charities and non-profits, Cheryl is a collaborative and entrepreneurial innovator who effectively leads organizations to advance their vision.
Cheryl has an extensive track record of leading, supporting, and empowering diverse and inclusive teams to achieve their strategic priorities while cultivating and scaling partnerships to grow revenues, enhance brand identity, and achieve objectives.
Before joining our organization, Cheryl’s career included leading a national non-profit in developing and launching an outdoor skills matching and mentorship program. She also served for three years as Provincial Executive Director of a national business and community economic development support association focused on providing skills training, advisory services and business financing for entrepreneurs and rural small businesses, including the culinary and agricultural sectors. Cheryl served for six years as the chief staff officer for BC’s largest and oldest conservation charity, where she scaled teams, systems, and operations to grow revenues, membership, and advocacy effectiveness in support of BC’s fish, wildlife and habitat biodiversity. She was the founding Executive Director of a regional community Destination Marketing Organization in Metro Vancouver, with a focus on agri-tourism and outdoor experiences.
