Lohbrunner Farm: All Quiet on the Farm
It’s a quieter time of year around Lohbrunner Community Farm – at least in the farm fields, that is! Outside of the fields, our co-op members are keeping busy in all sorts of ways. It is the season of meetings, for one thing, where our keyboard members get together (sometimes followed by or combined with a potluck meal) to envision and plan the future of the farm.
We are currently busy discussing how to grow our presence in the community, and how to best be a farm for the communities of Langford and Victoria’s Westshore, where we are located. We’ve got u-pick pumpkin, flower, and berry patches, summer camps for kids, on-farm farm stands, a long table harvest dinner in the works so far!
In addition, the resident farmers, Diana and Ariella, of Vitality Farm and Sweet Acres Farm, respectively are busy planning the crops and veggie farming activities of 2019 – this means pouring over seed catalogues, making crop plans, having visioning sessions, and doing lots of research on-farm projects and crop management – often done while drinking tea near the wood stove.
